It was a homecoming game to remember for the Panthers of Diamond Ranch. Never before in school history has the Panthers defeated the Chargers from Charter Oak High School. Over the 12 years the Panthers have came close. In the Late 2000’s both teams met in the CIF Finals only for the panthers to come up short in the title game. Last year the Charters defeated Diamond Ranch in a close game for the league championship. This year on Homecoming night at Diamond Ranch it was a different story. For 3 quarters the game was 2-0 and both the Chargers and Panthers were playing great defense. But Halloween came early for the panthers as the offense pulled off a astonishing trick play to take the lead with 3:23 left in the game. Quarterback Cade Miller threw a quick pass to sophomore wide receiver Cristian Dixon. Dixon under pressure threw a 39 yard strike to senior slot receiver Alex Caballero for the go ahead score. On the ongoing possession. defensive corner D.J Shanks intercepted the pass to return it for the touchdown. Shanks wasn’t done as he intercepted another pass from the chargers quarterback and on the next Panther offensive drive, 3 year varsity starter – 2017 Offensive MVP of the league Connor Clark scored on a toss to the left to seal the victory!
